Why shoot in colour?

B&W was the Industry standard for many years mainly because of the cost of printing in colour. Most photos are sent online these days so there is no reason why they shouldn't be in colour. Consequently more and more casting directors are requesting colour and in the USA B&W is no longer used at all. Shooting in Colour gives you the option of both so why not?

One good reason to use colour:

What should I wear?

The most important issue here is that you are complemented by your choice of clothes and not upstaged by them. So avoid patterns and anything that distracts from your face. Also, bear in mind your casting and dress accordingly EG if you're likely to be seen for "corporate" roles, consider wearing a suit. Make sure you also take something neutral too for the photo that will do for anything.

How long do I have to wait to see the results?

I normally email your contacts the day of the shoot and the finished CD will arrive generally within 5 working days of your order.

Which is better, outdoor or studio?

Everything depends on the light; if it's good outside then daylight is very hard to beat, especially if you're looking for film and TV work.

The studio is more controllable and for some more comfortable. I will normally shoot some of each if the conditions are suitable.

Why do you not supply prints?

In the days of film, the best way to make reproductions of photos was by copying a print. This always meant a drop in quality but there was no realistic choice.

With digital imagery you will have an exact copy of the original image on the CD I supply and prints may be made direct from that ensuring no loss of quality.

Where's the best place to get prints made?

Any High Street print shop can make prints for you but I always recommend using specialists as you'll get a much better result and at a decent price.

How and when do I pay?

Payment is by cash or cheque only and is payable at the time of the shoot.

I regret I cannot take payment by Card

Do you supply hair and make up?

No, in fact I positively discourage the use of professional hair and make up for general casting photographs. The reason being that casting directors expect you to look just like your photo when you attend a casting; so unless you are happy to have hair and make up done by the same person every time you go for an interview there is really no benefit.
